2009: Principal
investigator for the “CEPHEUS” study
E. Publications
Scientific Journals:
If I become the president of APSAVD
Asian-pacific region has become
the very important region because of the total population, disease burden and
recent economic growth. But academic activities have been lagged behind and we
have been adopting most
of the guidelines set up by the western countries. We need to do more of our
own Asian-Pacific studies and have our own guidelines. We need to do more
collaborative studies between the scientists and between the countries of the
region.
First I want to increase the scientific
activity of the region.
I will invite the experts and opinion
leaders from each country and will form the task force team for the
“Asian-Pacific Guideline for the prevention and treatment of dyslipidemia and atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases”.
Secondly, I will organize the committee of
epidemiology and prevention, genomics, and etc. I will try to do the
epidemiologic studies and interventional studies in the region. For which I
will try to collect the opinions from the members of APSAVD and will also get
the opinions from the opinion leaders in the region. Once the project is
selected, I will try to raise the fund and will actively support the study.
Thirdly I will try to build up the
data base of the current status of the prevalence of diseases and dyslipidemia and the future perspectives in the region.
Forthly, I will upgrade our
home page and will increase its usage by the members by making it a useful
communication ground between the members and a learning source.
To make all these vision to come true,
it will be very much important to organize the expert committee from the region
and communicate with the similar international bodies and come up with the
projects with high scientific merit and attractive to both the practicing physicians
and also to the company. With formulated project I can draw the attention from
the companies and raise the funds to support the study.
Recently I worked as a principal
investigator for the “CEPHEUS” study in which eight countries from the Asian Pacific
region participated. The successful achievement of the study gave me good
confidence that “we can do it”.
I have worked for the Korean Society
of Lipidology and Atherosclerosis for long time and
also in the society of APSAVD and IAS and understand very well about the
regional situations and scientists and these will be a great add if I become
the president and serve for the region.
