APSAVD Quarterly Email – September 2008

Executive and Council nominations

Most of the positions on the APSAVD Executive Committee and Council and now due for re-election.Financial members are eligible for election to these positions.

Executive Committee

President - the current chairman Dr Suphachai is eligible for reelection for a 2 year term.
Secretary - the current secretary Dr Tomlinson is eligible for reelection for a further 3 year term
Treasurer - the current treasurer Dr Janus is eligible for reelection for a further 3 year term.
Ordinary Committee members (maximum of 3 positions now available) for 3 year terms
Drs Keech, Chee Eng Tan and Rody Sy are eligible for reelection for further 3 year terms
Please note that Drs Matsuzawa, Sritara and Ding were elected onto the executive for 2006-2009

Council

40 positions are available (Council members represent each country with a limit of 4 for larger countries and 2 to 3 for the smaller countries).

I invite you to nominate for these positions. You may nominate yourself or another member of the APSAVD. The current list is attached for your information.

ACTION REQUIRED: To nominate a member, please complete the attached form. Remember, you may nominate all the existing Executive and Council members again.

We would appreciate your nominations by 10 September 2008.

6th APSAVD Congress 2008

20 DAYS TILL CONGRESS!

The 6th APSAVD Congress will be hosted in Hong Kong from 25 – 28 September 2008 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

7th APSAVD Congress 2010

The 7th APSAVD Congress will be hosted in Australia in 2010. The Hilton Cairns has now been selected as the venue.

Further information will be made available at a later date.

8th APSAVD Congress 2012

Bids for hosting the 2012 APSAVD Biennial Congress are invited. Interested host members/societies should:

· advise the secretariat

· prepare a short (5 minute) PowerPoint presentation for the Council Meeting and Annual General Meeting to be held during the 2008 Biennial Congress in Hong Kong.
